I had seen something similar on a trip to Finland, a great little addition on a winters evening in the garden. What you need, a log, a drill, a slug of vaseline, a small amount of fire starter…
Drill a hole verticle through the log and then horizontal 3/4 of the way down. Plug the horizontal hole with the vaseline, add some firelighter and bingo… These burn for hours!
